BGV Community Mural Installation Project

The Black Girl Ventures Foundation is installing murals across America! In continuation of BGV's new partnership with Nike, the goal of this project is to elevate Black and Brown woman-identifying Founders through the arts on a local level and to shine a light on the work of some of the most dynamic change agents in our communities. We are excited to be working on a grassroots level in a couple of our beloved chapter cities: Washington D.C. and Atlanta.
Black and Brown women rarely get the recognition and acknowledgment that they deserve and, in part through this project, BGV is developing public art that will help change that reality one community at a time. At each location, BGV will collaborate with artists to create engaging multimedia content that will both share some of the creative development process and highlight the great things that are happening in our Chapter communities. Our partnership with Nike will help ensure that each location is amplified on a national level and beyond.
BGV is working with our local partners to ensure that each mural installation is in keeping with the values of the community. The project will be hosted in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta in partnership with The Menkiti Group, EDENS, and 310 Ventures. Our Change Agent Fellows on the ground in each city will also help to create excitement around the project in our efforts to ensure that there is maximum positive community impact and engagement.

Our Partner Communities
Union Market District
Pioneering vision is the driving force behind Union Market District, an historically relevant neighborhood of sights, sounds and tastes that continues to thrive today. Expanding beyond its origins as a food market to include shopping, dining, arts, entertainment and community events year-round, Union Market District is a discovery destination—a place for creative enterprise and authentic experiences. More than 35 independent merchants and purveyors of food and drink operate within Union Market proper, plus an open-air rooftop bar and green space with stunning 360-degree city views. La Cosecha, a contemporary Latin American marketplace and culinary embassy located in the District, is designed for community and conversation—carried by a philanthropic mission to foster business education throughout Latin America.

Northeast, Washington, D.C.
The eastern half of the city has no shortage of booming neighborhoods. H Street NE has gone from up-and-coming to already here; Capitol Riverfront's transformation courtesy of Nationals Park has been miraculous; and NoMa just seems like one giant construction site. Yet, while all of those neighborhoods have been turning heads with trendy bars and promises of movie theaters and Whole Foods, another Northeast neighborhood, Brookland, has been quietly becoming a destination rather than an area that people either pass through or avoid.
