5 Easily Underrated Tips To Create Copy On Purpose

Creating copy for your website and social media channels should be intentional. Every word is a piece of a puzzle that tells the story of your brand. Having a language that fits your brand is essential, not only to your audience but to show consistency with your brand. Here are some things to consider before publishing a post.


1. Spell check: Thoroughly check for misspelled words. Misspelled words are a crucial indicator for spam or a scam. You don't want your potential customers deciding if your brand is trustworthy or not. Before posting, reread your words or download 'Grammarly' (a free app) to check your words for you, as well as sentence structure. You want your customers to know that they can trust you with not only their business but their personal information.


2. Brand Guidelines: If you don't have brand guidelines, consistency can be an issue. Brand guidelines are more than fonts and colors. It also discusses the language you use so that posting becomes easy. You want your brand to be a story, to show your customers who your company is. Brand guidelines ensure that everyone is on the same page, and consistency is not an issue now or with future employees.


3. Mixture: You want to keep your audience interested, so having a combination of videos and pictures is essential. Also, make sure they are relevant to your business and your customers. What's their interest? By doing research, you will notice the habits of your audience in what they buy and what they engage with. What posts gain more attention?


4. Schedule Out: The key to consistently posting is planning. Take a few hours/days and create posts for a few weeks or a month. Use apps like Hootsuite to schedule posts out. Scheduling your posts frees up time so that you can focus on other parts of your business. Just be sure to research essential dates so you can make impactful posts.


5. Utilize Stories: Things you want to share but not necessarily to your timeline fits best on your Instagram or Facebook stories. (You can also share to both). Make sure your message is still on-brand and not a personal message. Many posts have blurred lines between the two, which confuses your brand's messaging. Once again, this is the purpose of brand guidelines.


Before you post anything, double and triple check to make sure it's on brand and that it looks professional. You want every new visitor converted into customers. These tips will help to make your posts more purposeful.
