Meet The Winners of the 2021 TriNet Pitch Competition

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

Camille McGirt - 1st Place Winner

Camille McGirt - 1st Place Winner | Black Girl Ventures

Camille McGirt is the Co-Founder of EXTA alongside her brother Emanuel McGirt Jr. Both played NCAA Division I sports. EXTA stands for Excelling Through Adversity. They are on a mission to become the number one resource within athletics because athletes need therapy too.

Camille and her brother suffered back-to-back injuries during their seasons, leading to their college sports careers ending. As a result, both struggled with their mental health. When Camille transitioned out of sports, she became depressed and felt like a failure. She didn't have the skills or the support to navigate her trauma.

With EXTA, a web-based tool, athletes can connect with licensed sports psychologists or mental skills performance coaches to help guide them through the situations they face. All without the hassle of in-person appointments or a heavy cost burden subscription, we have a platform that allows athletes access to an affordable and easily accessible solution.

Danella Williams - 2nd Place Winner

Danella Williams - 2nd Place Winner | Black Girl Ventures

Danella Williams is the Founder of Cleaven, an online clearance fashion search platform by women for women. She found it hard to maintain a costly wardrobe while also managing other living expenses as a lawyer. She created this online platform for women who love a great bargain and are fashion-forward.

Cleaven aggregates clearance racks from 100s of retailers all in one place to simplify the clearance rack shopping experience. Women can find the lowest prices and the largest selection of products on the site from trusted retailers. Even better, customers can still use their coupon codes to deepen their discounts further.

TaMeka Bland - 3rd Place Winner

TaMeka Bland - 3rd Place Winner | Black Girl Ventures

TaMeka Bland is the Founder of LimitLess. A tech-based delivery app aimed to tackle food insecurities in her community of Louisville, Kentucky. The app connects the community to fresh produce, groceries, restaurant, and floral delivery.

They offer affordable fees, convenient mobile ordering, fast delivery service, and they accept SNAP. LimitLess services both B2B and B2C and already have 380 subscribers. This app initially focused on the West End of Louisville, an underserved community repeatedly ignored by national delivery apps.

Tameka Bland began her career as a professional hairstylist in 2002. Developing connections with her community led her to give back by tackling these food insecurities. Despite competitors like InstaCart, she already has 3-6% of the 28% market share in her community that doesn't have access to a vehicle. Tameka's strategy is being hyperlocal and nurturing relationships to grow LimitLess.
