Christy Haubegger is the founder of Latina Magazine, a filmmaker, and a trailblazer. Much like Janice Howroyd, her accolades could fill this website and a notebook or two however we were most inspired by listening to her discuss the perception shift that needs to happen to support the achievement of minorities across all industries.
“If I want to cast a woman or person of color as a protagonist in a film, studios fear that the movie won’t be successful and it will diminish box office sales,” she told the summit audience. “But there shouldn’t be a negotiation between excellence and diversity.”
