Shelly Bell & Melodie Narain-Blackwell team up to take Black Girl Ventures to the next level.
Just under a year ago, Melodie, Founder of Sole Savers Shoes, was featured on BETHer’s (Formerly Centric TV) Queen Boss - a pitch competition featuring celebrity judges that granted a woman-owned business $25,000.
Melodie and Shelly were connected via a mutual associate and have been professionally inseparable ever since. While brainstorming on business ideas and cheering each other on as entrepreneurs, they realized that their social impact goals were quite similar. They are passionate about pushing the needle forward for women entrepreneurs in general and Black women, specifically. When asked about the benefits of this partnership, Melodie replied, "partnership removes many limitations; with a concrete mission in

place, we are hitting the ground running and making things happen, together."
In 2018, Black Girl Ventures plans to scale the Boss Up Pitch Competition to two new cities while continuing to grow at home in Washington, DC. “Teamwork makes the dream work and we realize that we are stronger together,” says Shelly Bell. Black women are the fastest growing entrepreneurial segment in the U.S. We are movements in our own right but we are a force when we work together.
With Shelly’s vision, creative artsy, and hardcore hustle, coupled with Mel’s strategic thinking and focused implementation, this dynamic duo will excel beyond imagination.
